Update on Virtual Blog Tour Strategy

10 days ago I wrote about the “Virtual Blog Tour” that I am undertaking, in part to promote my new eBook, Whale Hunting Women, and in part to continue my exploration of social media as a sales and business development strategy.

Today I’ll bring you up to date on progress.

  • website hits–up 25%
  • new newsletter subscribers–greatly increased rate of sign-ups
  • blog–attracting traffic commensurate with biggest prior days
  • Twitter–more new followers, many mentions of the blog tour & book

So from a pure social media standpoint–more hits, more attention, more interest.  We’ve had some great book reviews, interviews, and blog posts about the book and about Whale Hunters.  All positive on brand awareness.

But from the sales perspective, not much yet.  New ideas to bring to the mix–price reduction during the blog tour and affiliate marketer plan.

The great thing about social media is the contacts and connections.   Finding the ways to llink those connections to a business development strategy continues to be a challenge.
